Grateful Words from a Changed Child
This course is specifically meant to help young folks begin to take responsibility for their own health and know there are things they can do to possibly improve and maintain their health as well as focus on being healthy throughout their lives. This course is especially appropriate during this time of the COVID pandemic.
This Walden Wonders "Growing Me Webinar" course, titled "A Healthy You", is designed to teach children in grades 3-8 the popular NEWSTART method of living a healthy lifestyle. The student will learn 8 simple principles which can help boost their immune system so they can better resist, or recover from, COVID if it comes to them. The course also includes a webinar on general health as well as one on safety.
Grandma Walden will encourage the young student to begin taking responsibility for their own health and well being, not just for now during COVID, but for their entire life. Instruction will be by directly talking to the student at their level, and by PowerPoint with appropriate, attractive, interest-generating artwork.
The fact that God created the student for abundant and healthy life will also be taught via Bible verses and personal testimony. It is Grandma Walden's hope and prayer that the student will grow in their knowledge and abilities, as well as grow as an individual and a child of God. Grandma's hope and prayer is that the child will grow into a greater love for, and appreciation of, their heavenly Father and their Savior, Jesus.
Spiritual Growth For Each Child Is My Goal
I want each young person taking this course to see the beautiful character of God and develop a precious, harmonious, life-long relationship with Him. God tells us in Deuteronomy 11:18-19 “Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”
The spiritual food we serve our young people is thus to be interwoven in all aspects and areas of life. I will attempt to do that in each of the webinars. Prayerfully, being a Christian will become an integral part of each child’s life.

About Your Instructor
Mary Ann Walden - that’s me. I’m a retired master level teacher of 33 years; 27 of which were in various multi-grade situations from 4-year olds to 10th grade, then six years as chair of a college education department training future Christian teachers. I have worked as a trainer and mentor of children and youth since I was seven years old! Yes, I started early, taught my youngest brother and sister to walk and talk; they called me, “Mama” because I was their primary caregiver.
Retired now, but I have a lifetime of experience to share and a deep desire to help young people grow in knowledge, ability, as individuals, and in their relationships with God the Father and their Lord Jesus Christ. I love the Lord and enjoy walking with Him, and hope to guide others to an enjoyable walk with Him also.
Thus, when the idea of developing materials for young people was presented to me I jumped at it! “Growing Me Webinars” are designed primarily for the child in grades 3-6; however, advanced younger children might enjoy and benefit from these webinars also. Young folks in grades 7 & 8 who are interested in the content of each course would definitely enjoy and benefit from the courses I will be developing also.
